Rep. Steve King, Don't Be a Birther!

Representative Steve King is the latest person to buy into the "birther" fantasy, which says that President Barack Obama wasn't really born in the United States.

When asked if he thought Obama is a natural-born citizen, King said that his staff had "investigated the matter" and found birth announcements in two Hawaii newspapers the week after Obama was born. However, King went onto say that his parents might have"announced that by telegram from Kenya" and that the "list goes on" concerning how there might be other explanations for the announcements.

Please tell Rep. Steve King to drop this "birther" nonsense and to stop looking for information that isn't there -- Obama is a citizen of the United States!

Dear Rep. Steve King,

I am writing to you today because of comments you made concerning the "birther" controversy.

You are one of many folks that believe that Obama is not a natural-born citizen. You even got your staff to look into the matter, and when you found out that Obama's parents had put birth announcements in Hawaiian newspapers, you said that his parents might have "announced that by telegram from Kenya".

Obama is a citizen of the United States, and has already showed his birth certificate to the public. Please stop looking for information that isn't there.

Thank you for your time.
