Yet a significant portion of government spending is put towards enforcing the criminalization of marijuana use. California legislation A.B. 390 would:
* allow adults 21 and over to possess and cultivate marijuana.
* allow cultivation of industrial hemp.
* set up a tax and regulation system for marijuana similar to alcohol.
* NOT remove penalties for marijuana possession or sale on school grounds.
The legalization of marijuana has long been a topic of controversy--but it's becoming more clear that the money we spend to penalize people for marijuana could be used in better ways. For many, marijuana is a healing herb and hemp is one of the most environmentally sustainable resources available. Tell Governor Shwarzenegger to support the passing of A.B. 390.
