Stop House Bill 664

The Carolina Wireless Association has gotten a bill introduced in the House, H664, which for all intents and purposes deregulates and preempts the issue of the siting of towers and wireless facilities. It doesn’t even allow local governments to deal with the issue of public safety, which is a huge concern and the members of the Industry would not be accountable to ANYONE for matters of public safety.

There would also be no limit on the number of times a tower’s height could be increased in 20’ increments. On a 200’ tower the first increase could be 20’, the next could be 22’, the next 44’ and so on. In just 2 moves the tower could go from 200’ to 244’ (effectively a 150% increase in height) and the community and residents could do nothing about it and there would be no right to determine if it’s even safe to do so. NO ACCOUNTABILITY TO ANYONE AT ALL!

This bill also allows 199' ft. towers in residential neighborhoods.
