Stop The Heroin Epidemic

Of the 22,134 deaths relating to prescription drug overdose in 2010, 16,652 (75%) involved opioid analgesics and 6,497 involved benzodiazepines. Prescription drugs like opioid painkillers are responsible for causing a widespread increase in crime against sick and elderly people whose medicine cabinets are loaded with legal narcotics. Home invasions, robberies, assaults, homicides, thefts, rape, burglary, larceny/theft, arson, hate crimes -- are all being linked to prescription drugs. 1.5 million dollars in government funds were spent responding to the growing heroin epidemic in Middletown last year. 4 out of 5 recent heroin initiates had previously used prescription opioids non-medically.
People are dieing everyday from this heroin epidemic. If we can't stop it now we never will. This epidemic is ruining families and destroying friendships. Babies are being born with NAS causing them to fall extremely behind in schooling all because there parents faell to the wrath of opioids. We need to stop this now!
