FDR must go!

  • af: Margarita L

Mayor DeBlasio recently formed a commission to judge inflammatory statues & plaques. I implore him to wipe away the stain that FDR has left across New York City. FDR was a known racist who attacked all Japanese-Americans by signing Executive Order 9066 forcing innocent Japanese to be interred.

Demand that Mayor DeBlasio expand the committee to look at street names & islands. FDR should not escape the disdain that has been shown to the Confederate Statues in the South. I implore the open-hearted people of New York & the great Mayor DeBlasio to look at:

1) Changing the name of FDR Drive to finally honor a Person Of Color. Maybe former Mayor Dinkins or Governor Patterson should be so honored?

2) Change the name of Roosevelt Island back to the original Lenape name: Minnehanonck.

Do not let injustice continue. Please support my petition.
