Demand 10 days paid sick leave to stop rising COVID-19 infections in Ontario

A sobering new report from Toronto's Medical Officer of Health notes workplaces as sources of rising COVID19 infections and strongly recommends that employees: "have access to no less than 10 paid sick days annually in the event of a declared infectious disease emergency such as the COVID-19 pandemic."
Despite this warning from public health officials and Toronto's top doctor Eileen De Villa, neither provincial or federal authorities have agreed to mandate paid sick days for individuals with COVID19.

Incredibly, only 42% of all Canadian employees have access to paid sick leave, causing ill people to be forced to work when they should stay home and avoid infecting others.
It's crucial to get paid sick leave legislated to protect Ontarians and stop our escalating numbers of COVID19 infections.
Demand that Doug Ford mandate the necessary funding and support to employers so that workers in Ontario will no longer be working while sick.
"We know that we can't beat COVID until we stop workplace transmission and we won't stop workplace transmission until we have paid sick leave for all workers. We won't beat COVID until we make it possible for workers to stay home and self-isolate when they are ill. Sick leave — it's long overdue." - Joe Cressy, Toronto City Councillor and Chair of the Toronto Board of Health.
