Reject Budget Cuts to Iowa's Critical Public Services

Governor Branstad awarded Orascom Construction Industries, a publicly traded company, $110 million. As a result, the people of Iowa are now being asked to sacrifice $110 million toward CRITICAL PUBLIC SERVICES. The recommended reductions are: $8.7M less to Community Colleges, $5.5M less to the Department of Education, $20.3M less to the Department of Human Services, $15.5M less to the Department of Corrections, $3.8M less to the Department of Public Safety, $13.8M less to Human Services, Medicaid. We are notifying the Iowa House and Senate that it is UNACCEPTABLE to ask the citizens of Iowa to pay for Corporate welfare at the expense of critical public services.  We are demanding that Governor Branstad's budget be rejected and restructured to eliminate cuts to critical public services.
