There have been many reports of animal deaths stemming from the long term antibiotic shot called Convenia in animals. Too many reports of cats dying within days after recieving this shot that remains in the system for 2 months! I feel this is poison- yet I was not told any of this when my cat recieved the shot and died a week later. This is unacceptable! We must force veterinarians to tell us the FACTS- they are the experts- they have the responsibility to tell pet owners it is long term not just a 10 day shot and explain what it is- not just a "shot" which is very misleading. An animal should not be brought into a back room - it should be done in front of the owner- be told the name of the drug and then let the owner know the facts that it stays in a cats system for over a month! I know many vets who don't administer Covenia due to having many cats and never has it been suggested .......... so we need some research studies done on this drug. People do not just make up complaints- they feel in their heart like I do- that Covenia killed their beloved pets! Please sign-because the industry standards for pet medicine needs to change now. The reaon why I started this petition is because I was not told what this "shot" was I was told it was a 10 day shot which is false- it stays in te system for over a month! I had to go online and read horror stories from other pet owners about their cats dying from Covenia. Why is this drug dangerous? Because there is no reversing it . There is NO getting this out of your animals body! Animal owners have the right to know the truth. I was misled and very angry about it- this is not a REGULAR antibiotic- it needs to be labeled- pet owners should be aware of the adverse effects BEFORE it is administered- because I WOULD HAVE NEVER GIVEN THIS TO MY ANIMAL1 I simply typed "Convenia" into Google and what I was met with was more than disturbing.

The list went on and on. Not one person had anything good to report. So many sad stories and unnecessary beloved feline deaths. Come in for respiratory infection... die from Convenia, the medicine used to treat it. Upon reading almost every article, forum, and website (and nearly succumbing to cardiac arrest more than a few times myself).. It is my understanding that Convenia is dangerous because it is a Long term anti-biotic. It's effects last two weeks and it stays in the cats body for ~64 days. If an allergic reaction happens you are doomed and the deed is done- is it worth the risk?
