If you have seen the news in Tucson, I am sure you heard the story of the 16 year old beaten and left for dead. I have seen this child. He has no wounds on his arms. All his wounds are on his head, neck, and back. He was attacked and almost killed.
Steven Lee Townsend lied to the police multiple times. First the truck was his and registered in another name. Then the truck was a friend of his. Then the truck was found empty with the key inside and he took it for a joy ride. After several hours of interrogation, Steven Lee Townsend admitted to KILLING the 16 year old and leaving his body in the desert. Townsend then took the police to exactly were he left the body. To everyone's surprise the 16 year old was still alive. This amazingly strong child survived being beaten with a 2x4 across the head several times, being left in the desert for over 24 hours, and then brain surgery.
We may never know why Townsend beat this child and left him for dead, but we can make sure that he never does this to another person. WE NEED MAXIMUM SENTENCING FOR TOWNSEND TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING TO SOMEONE ELSE'S SON OR DAUGHTER AND TO MAKE SURE HE PAYS FOR WHAT HE DID TO MY FRIENDS SON.

The mother, an outstanding nurse has dedicated her life to caring for the ill, not judging anyone by their past, providing the best health care she can to all of her patients is now forced to sit helpless at her 16 year old son's side wondering if he will ever wake up, and if he does wake up, how much brain damage will he have, will he be able to have a normal life after this, wondering if this crazy man who attacked her son will receive justice he deserves or will he get a reduced sentence in order to save money and the time of the attorneys involved.
Tortured by all the "what ifs" and "whys" she dare not leave her son's side. Knowing and worrying about all the bills she will be unable to pay since this tragedy has left her unable to work. The long road of rehab that awaits her son bring many fears of how she will be able to take care of him, her daughter, and their household.
