Implement a $10,000 fine for people caught feeding wildlife in Yukon

Last year over 60 bears were shot in the Yukon due to human-bear conflict. While some of these were due to unfortunate circumstances and accidental food habituation, several of them were due to deliberate actions by people feeding bears along our highways. Many of these people were tourists who do not necessarily understand the consequences of their actions for the bears and other people. Yukon wildlife has enough challenges without being shot due to human ignorance, which is why I am asking you to support the implementation of a $10,000 fine for feeding wildlife. Signs indicating this level of fine may not prevent all people from harming wildlife in this way, but they will deter enough people to potentially make a difference. Add your name to the petition and maybe we can get the Yukon Government to make this change.
