Baltimore city employees demand a stop in shift changes.

On 2/20/19 , Baltimore city department of transportation altered local 44 members inclement weather work shift to avoid paying overtime by forcing workers to come to work 4am instead of the normal inclement weather work shift which is 12am to 12pm. This is clearly a violation of (Article 15, line e) in the baltimore city employment contract which clearly states (the employer shall not vary or rearrange work schedules to avoid paying overtime. Rearranging the regular sheduled work shift can result in an increase in on the job accidents due to sleep deprivation, therefore violating (Article 16, line a) which states ,the employer and the union shall cooperate in the enforcement of safety. We are asking that these issues be addressed. We are asking that our 12 hour inclement weather shifts not be altered to avoid paying workers overtime and for workers safety to decrease on the job accidents due to sleep deprivation.
