Wyoming – Step Up with Tougher Animal Cruelty Laws & Protect Animals

  • af: Sue Lee

According to the Animal Legal Defense Fund, Wyoming is greatly lacking in their protection of animals, being near the bottom on the State Animal Protection Laws Rankings.  These rankings are based on animal cruelty statistics from various states and territories across the USA.  The fact is that such abuse to defenseless animals needs to stop and the only way is with tougher laws protecting them.  Read more on Wyoming animal laws at http://asci.uvm.edu/equine/law/cruelty/wy_cruel.htm, https://www.animallaw.info/statute/wy-cruelty-consolidated-cruelty-statutes, plus http://www.straypetadvocacy.org/PDF/AnimalCrueltyLaws.pdf.

Increasing the penalties for animal cruelty will hopefully make people think twice before abusing an animal in Wyoming. I propose that they implement stricter animal cruelty laws, charges and penalties that would ensure any and all offenses against an animal is classified as a felony.  Along with the felony offense and appropriate consequences, the offender would be listed as a registered animal abuser that would prevent future mistreatment, ownership and encounters with any animals for a lifetime, guaranteed. Appropriate penalties need to include any or all such as longer jail sentences, higher fees, and possible acts of community service hours.  Strict measurements need to be taken and fully enforced in order to put an end to such animal cruelty.

The purpose of this petition is to urge Wyoming State Legislators to move forward with these tougher animal cruelty laws, charges and penalties and make an impact on your citizens and society that animals deserve respect and humane treatment.  You can help my efforts by signing and sharing this petition with your own comments and thoughts.

Wyoming State Legislators – Animals are living beings, not objects, and they do need respect, love and humane care/treatment.  Please step up to be a voice for these defenseless beings and ensure they get the protection they deserve. This is the only way to make an impact on your citizens that animals are more deserving.
