Bring Back the Three Malaysian Elephants (Dara, Amoi, and Kelat) to Malaysia

The transfer of Dara, Amoi, and Kelat to Tennoji Zoo in Osaka raises serious welfare concerns. Elephants need large, natural spaces, but urban zoo conditions with limited space and unsuitable flooring can harm their physical and mental health. The colder climate in Japan is also very different from Malaysia and may not be suitable for them.

Malaysia prepared proper facilities when hosting giant pandas, so the same standard should be expected for our elephants. Therefore, we urge authorities to cancel the transfer and keep them in Malaysia or place them in a suitable sanctuary that meets proper welfare standards.
