Implement A Crisis Center at the University of Connecticut

The University of Connecticut has many offices in place for students in-need (including Center for Mental Health Services, Cultural Centers, Center for Students with Disabilities, Student Health Services, etc.) and programs such as ConnPIRG working to implement more student aid. However, we believe that there are gaps in the services and awareness of these programs at UConn, more specifically those that exist to assist students experiencing food insecurity and homelessness. As a solution to this, we would like to create a Crisis Center office which would house a food pantry and coordinate programs already in place(such as existing cots on-campus) as well as introduce new services. The Crisis Center would also have a hotline staffed by trained student aids prepared to disseminate information on where to receive assistance and respond to students in immediate need. We would love your support in this and ask that you sign this petition with your full name and UConn student email!
