To set the tone, this is not a petition about preference. Rather, it is about humanity. This is about Israel forcefully evicting Palestinians from their homes in Jerusalem. Specifically, in Sheikh Jarrah. The people of Bergen County, New Jersey-- along with their family members and friends, nationally and internationally-- are calling on Congressman Josh Gottheimer to speak out against the displacement of Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah. These are families who have lived in Jerusalem for decades- families that are literally being thrown on the street. Children who were playing outside, were waiting to go shopping for their new Eid clothes. These children came back home to see soldiers holding guns to their parents and settlers walking into their house, claiming it as their own. These children will not get to wear their new Eid clothes this week, nor will they have a bed to sleep on tonight. No child should have to witness the atrocities that the children of Sheikh Jarrah are living in. Per the United Nations, these forced evictions violate international law. Congressman Josh Gottheimer, we are asking you to use your energy to speak up. To use your privilege to make a difference. To help restore humanity to the men, women, and children of Sheikh Jarrah.
