Implement Nationwide Audit of UK Pig Farms to Meet UK & EU Animal Care Standards

Investigations and inspections have documented abuse and cruelty on pig farms throughout the United Kingdom and other areas of the country.    If you read further information on these farms at https://www.facebook.com/OfficialPETAUK/videos/986053038109470/?fref=nf, you will note that the animals are inhumanely cared for and treated.

Sadly, it often found to be common practice to treat animals without respect, especially those that are raised on farms to be eventually used as a food source.  As some of the documentation states, many of the pigs on these farms have to live in sickening conditions among dead and bloody pigs. “The animals are treated as walking pieces of meat, whose only purpose is to generate profit for farmers. Its standard practice to keep intelligent, curious pigs indoors in dark sheds for their entire short lives, to mutilate them without painkillers, and to confine mother pigs to farrowing crates so small that they can’t turn around before they give birth.”

Such living conditions and treatment of these animals is clearly animal abuse and cruelty.  The effort in this petition is to ask for a nationwide audit of all UK pig farms to ensure they are complying with UK and EU standards for animal care. If any farms are in violation of the standards, they need to be shut down until they do comply.  Additionally, such farms needs to be monitored on a random regular basis to ensure the health and well-being of all the animals. You can help me on this endeavor by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own comments and thoughts.

George Eustice, Minister of State at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs UK and the Animal and Plant Health Agency (customeradvice@apha.gsi.gov.uk) – I urge you to implement a nationwide audit of all UK pig farms to ensure they are complying with UK and EU standards for animal care. If any farms are in violation of the standards, they need to be shut down until they do comply.  Additionally, such farms needs to be monitored on a random regular basis to ensure the health and well-being of all the animals. Stop the abuse and cruelty on these pig farms and provide them the care and respect they deserve.
