It's football not soccer

Our beloved sport is called football not soccer. Invented in 1870's has been known as this ever since. Lately outside countries have called the sport soccer. American football was formed by an English rugby player in late 1880 and took some time to take off. By copy right English football has rights to the name. At no point were England asked if it could be called soccer and now the name is used world wide and even found its way into the UK having soccer clubs etc. We want to keep our football name rightly as the foot has contact with ball throughout the game unlike American football. We want the world to know football as it stands and not have a national sport which is pride of our nation changed without consent. UK as a nation excepted American football and adjusted the name by putting American in front. At very least it should be called UK football or worldwide football and not have the name changed by a nation where football is not even it's main sport. American football does not even live up to its name as very little contact with the foot and the ball is seen. Should we decide to change the name to egg ball/ carry ball or even glorified rugby how would this leave the fans feeling!! I have no objection to sharing the name but I take offence to it being changed without consent from fans. We want to keep our name for the game and oppose any use of the word soccer on UK TV, in schools (which has already happened in after school clubs)
