The tragic death by electrocution of Decorah eagle D12 on Sunday, June 30th was avoidable. The Raptor Resource Project was started to bring about awareness of our national bird, the eagle. The webcam placed on the nest in Decorah, Iowa has brought joy to millions across the world. We get to learn about the habits and behaviors of eagles. We get to see the parents getting the nest ready in anticipation for the laying of eggs. We get to see the hatching of the precious eaglets all the way through to their first flight away from the nest. This research is important to preserve the lives of all eagles. D12's tragic death was avoidable.
