Demand Jail Time for Dog Thief/Killer

A Delran, NJ, woman was charged Aug. 2 with theft of lost property and animal cruelty after a 3-year-old chocolate Labrador retriever named Moose died in her care. The woman allegedly failed to return the missing dog to its owners, who frantically searched for their pet for more than a month before discovering it had perished while crated in her hot car on July 13.

The woman confessed to selling Moose to an unidentified Pennsylvania family, according to Delran police. She also allegedly arranged to be paid by the family to train the dog with full knowledge that Moose was being sought by his owners.

Her attorney believes that her client deserves special consideration as a first time offender with no prior criminal conviction.

Tell the Prosecutor's office that theft of a family dog, concealing the whereabouts of that pet while the family is frantically searching for it, sale of the dog and subsequent mistreatment leading to its death, are entirely unacceptable --- first time offense or not!

This woman deserves jail time to think about her actions and to serve as a warning to others!
