If people saw what goes on during the gassing process, then they would understand why we are so desperate to end it. Let me tell you what happens.
The animals are crammed into what is usually little more than a metal box. They have no idea what's going on. The gas is then pumped into the box. The way the animal dies is excruciating. The gas they are breathing in burns the eyes and the lungs. It then causes them to urinate, defecate, and bleed from the eyes, ears, and mouth.
During the process the animals truly do cry. I saw a video of a bunch of dogs being gassed in a windowless chamber. I could hear them inside. It didn't sound like howling, it sounded like children crying, I swear to God it did.
In chambers with windows, there are reports of dogs scratching at the walls, cats ramming themselves against the sides trying desperately to escape. After it is all over, the animals are usually dumped into a land fill, or worse, they are sent to meat rendering factories to be used in shampoos, jells, cosmetics, fertilizers, and even pet food.
