Demand Affordable Healthy Food

Nutritious food is extremely expensive and, therefore; healthy living can seem like an unachievable goal for the majority of people within the United States. Although some people are able to achieve a healthy lifestyle, the United States has a greater amount of people who are overweight or who consume large amounts of unhealthy foods. There are many factors in this, but one that affects many middle class Americans is the low cost and convenience of junk food products. Unhealthy food is sold around every corner, and is sold at a cost that almost anyone is able to afford.  If someone is hungry the easiest thing to do is go to the nearest vending machine down the hall, or make a quick trip to a fast food restaurant. If people want to eat well, then they have to pack a lunch or spend a greater amount of money going out and purchasing a healthy meal.

This leads me to my thesis. I am going to prove that a government mandated price ceiling on fruits and vegetables, as well as tax breaks for health food companies; will solve the issue of obesity and malnutrition within our country. The congress is the agency that will have to enact this plan, however; as citizens of the United States we must act to help the Congress pass a law allowing the price ceiling and tax breaks to come into affect. Funding is not necessary because a price ceiling would lead to increased revenue, and tax breaks are government refunds on a certain percentage of taxes.
