'Black Friday' is a US imported tradition that is over-marketed by UK retailers in order to cause a buying frenzy on the last pay day before Christmas.
Now, we find that apparently, Black Friday lasts for over 2 weeks!
Since early November in the UK, it has been impossible to watch TV, go online or open our emails without being inundated with so called 'Black Friday' offers (or Black Week, Black Friday between 11-25 Nov, Black tag event, Black Week etc.)
The purpose of this petition is to research the number of people in the Uk who are, quite frankly, sick to the back teeth of Black Friday marketing!
A bargain is only a bargain if you save money on something you were going to buy anyway - the retailers of the U.K. advertise very specific deals, which play on people's 'impulse buy' reaction, meaning they spend money unexpectedly, which in turn leads to greater pre-Christmas debt.
Black Friday is a tradition in the United States that was unheard of in the UK until a couple of years ago, when greedy UK retailers decided to 'import' the tradition to the Uk. This started as a one day event, which resulted in panic buying, stampedes and violence in stores throughout the Uk.
In 2016, retailers decided to spread 'Black Friday' over a couple of weeks, meaning the UK public have been over-run with postal campaigns, television adverts and emails from retailers marketing their 'discounted' prices! (Why not reduce their prices year-round?)
