The main drive behind this petition is the recent events that have occurred in Stonewall, MB. A poor family has lost their dog (Patches) to a baited snare trap. This cruel and inhumane act could have been prevented. In order to prevent something like this from happening again, we NEED to BAN baited snare traps! I understand that LIVE traps can help farmers and help control animal populations etc. But BIATED SNARE TRAPS are completely unnecessary and are beyond cruel. As pet owners, we do everything possible to protect our pets, but accidents do happen. On the rare chance they do escape, it's better knowing they have every chance possible to come home. Rather then knowing they may be found trapped in a snare left for dead.
