Tell Canadian Olympic Committee to Pay Paralympic athletes for Medals as Olympic Athletes Are

  • af: Janelle Martel
  • mottagare: Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Paralympic Committee

When Canadian Olympic athletes medal, the Canadian Olympic Committee offers them a monetary reward - $20,000 for gold, $15,000 for silver, and $10,000 for bronze.  However, when Canadian Paralympic athletes reach the podium, no compensation is given to them for this achievement.

Rewarding Olympians and not Paralympians is not only unfair, but also discriminatory.  The Canadian Paralympic Committee would like to offer monetary awards to its athletes who win medals; however, funding for this is not available.  If the Canadian Olympic Committee would work with the Canadian Paralympic Committee, offering this reward may become possible.

Tell the Canadian Olympic Committee that Paralympic athletes deserve the same rewards as Olympic athletes!
