Reopen Charity Hospital

In 2005 when hurricane Katrina cause its devastation to the city of New Orleans it also caused damage to one of the most remarkable places in the city, Charity Hospital. The hospital flooded throughout its basement floors causing the hospital to lose electricity. Over the course of a week the hospital was evacuated to a nearby parking garage where patients were called up SEVEN flights to await their rescue teams. During the aftermath team of volunteers and military personnel pumped the water from the once fully operating hospital in hopes of getting it back in tip top shape to reopen. However, the Governor and Louisiana State University had different thoughts, they permanently closed Charity Hospital and used money that could have been spent on renovating it to build a newer hospital only a few blocks away. This hospital was one of the few FREE hospitals for Louisiana residents. Help get charity hospital reopened!
