Scan cats killed by cars for microchips in West Dunbartonshire

NOTE: Please only sign this petition if you live in West Dunbartonshire

Responsible cat owners have their cats microchipped so that they can be reunited should something bad happen. However, local authorities do not scan cats killed by cars leaving owners forever wondering what happened to their beloved companion.

My cat Dougal disappeared years ago. He was microchipped. He was previously in an RTA, and his microchip reunited us with him and allowed us to have him treated. But when he vanished, presumed dead, we had no information. If he was found by the local authority, we were not told. This is wrong.

I ask that West Dunbartonshire Council introduces a policy where dead cats found by their staff are scanned for a microchip.
