Coyotes Should Live!

Coyotes are interesting and intelligent animals.  They are also an iconic symbol of the West and are an important part of the desert ecosystem.  However, in Utah there is a bounty (without limit) of $50 for every pair of coyote ears a hunter turns in.  Coyotes are not a danger and do not have large negative impacts on deer or livestock populations.  They should be allowed to run free without the threat of being gunned down.

We, the undersigned, believe that coyotes should not be slaughtered.  Recently the bounty on coyotes was doubled.  We do not agree with any bounty placed on coyotes.  The coyote is an iconic symbol of the West.  Coyote, the Trickster, is an important figure in many Native American cultures.  In some he is seen as the Creator.  Coyotes are not a large threat to livestock and deer populations, and do not harm humans.  They are instead an important player in Utah ecosystems and actually uphold biodiversity.  It is furthermore an honor and a joy to watch a wild coyote.  Please do not support the cruel bounty-killing of coyotes.

Thank you for your consideration,
Advocates for Coyote Life
