Deny unqualified hunter say on California Wildlife Commission

Gov. Brown has chosen Jeremy Burns, a recreational hunter lacking a general scientific degree, to oversee management of California's natural resources, including wildlife and their habitats.

California animals are faced with many conflicts, such as poaching, drought, global warming, habitat loss and competition from invasive species. These issues demand the leadership of one who is knowledgeable, educated, experienced and resourceful.

The majority of the 37 million residents value and protect animals, including predators. This is the only state which chooses not to hunt wolves and cougars. People pay to watch birds, terrestrial mammals, and whales and to participate in nature tours. Thus, contributing to local rural economies.

Unfortunately, Mr. Burns, is not equipped to give our treasured resources the care they deserve and his nomination must be dismissed.
