Churros for Illinois State Desert!

Do you want Illinois to have meaningful symbols? Right now we do not. We need symbols that represent Illinois. The Churro is a combination of Illinois's traditional love for fried dough, and acceptance for new cultures.
Some of our state symbols really don't mean anything. Three other states all have violet as a state flower. Ten others have white tailed deer as their symbol. In Illinois, we really just have the typical, bland symbols. That needs to change. And why not the churro?
The churro has rich culture, with many stories about how it came into being. What we do know, though, is this. The churro would be a wonderful new way to bring Illinois a new spark. Do you want your beloved state to have a symbol worth celebrating? I know I do.
