ALLOW GUEST PARKING AT WESTERLY

As some may have noticed, the guest parking was eliminated. This was done so hidden in an e-mail titled 'Parking Reminders' which is usually a form letter email that comes monthly. I do not know why this information was hidden at the end of the email, nor why there was no notation of the change in the subject line (something so simple as 'Changes to Guest Parking and other Reminders' would have let us know it was not their usual corporate form letter).

Upon speaking to AM Megan, it is evident that not only does she not care if this inconveniences and frustrates her residents, that she does not care if we have guests, or about their safety or that of their vehicles. I was personally spoken to in a demeaning and dismissive manner, with excuses like 'we do not have to provide guest parking', 'there is nothing about guest parking in your lease', and 'we can change our rules whenever we please'. As evidenced by our community forum being 90% car break ins, it is not a viable option to have guests park on the streets as they are suggesting. As I was told by Dyanna herself, we are not allowed to have guests park in our personal reserved spots either. Nor can you add another car onto your lease without adding another tenant.

It seems they would like us to become hermits, or never be home. Personally, when I signed, I made sure there was guest parking as I have a partner who lives 2+ Hrs away. Their first time parking on the street, their car was broken into, and I cannot in good conscience ask them to park on the street when they stay with me.

Another reason I signed here is because it seemed perfect for hosting small get togethers with friends. That is also no longer viable, especially for friends who live out of town, where an uber over is easily 50 bucks from a place like Denton.

I don't care how this is remedied. Registering guest cars is a great idea, bringing back original guest parking would be fine too. I don't personally believe what they're saying about Dallas PD. Even if you were to get into the garage, you'd have to pass at least 2 Latch systems to get really anywhere in the building. This seems to me like a blatant lie, and doesn't hold up to logic. Their garage security issue might also be fixed if they actually repaired the resident gate. When that was brought up, they complained about the cost of a new one, which is why we pay rent, for them to maintain the grounds and facilities. We pay entirely too much as is, and the little to no concern for resident morale or concerns is appalling.

A few people have suggested parking on the open top floor for guests. I think that's a great idea because it not only leaves 1st floor parking for people who live on the first floor, but would utilize a widely ignored space and leave covered parking for the residents.

Apologies for sending this as an email.
I really encourage you guys to email corporate. when i met with dyanna, she told me that it really seemed like I was the only one who had an issue with it, despite the petition having 75 signatures at the time.
This is her bosses email.
