This Mayor Thinks Killing Gays is Ok.

Troglodyte Mayor Mark Chambers of Carbon Hill, Alabama has strong opinions about gay people and he wants to share them. That is until he got caught. Now he is in a whole lot of trouble.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, the rural mayor shared that he was tired of "a society where homosexuals lecture us on morals, transvestites lecture us on human biology…." But he wasn't done, when someone responded to his post suggesting that, perhaps a revolution was the only answer the Chambers really decided to take a nice fat slice of some delicious foot-in-mouth cake.

Responding, Chambers told his friend: "The only way to change it would be to kill the problem out. I know it's bad to say but without killing them out there's no way to fix it."

That's right, you read his post correctly. A mayor of an American town suggested killing gays and other people that he found objectionable. With his words, he put the gay members of his community at risk. Stories abound of people who took the words of powerful people to heart and used them as an excuse to commit violence on others. And with just one irresponsible post, he did just that.

In a ridiculous attempt to shun responsibility Chambers first told reporters at WBRC that someone else had written the post. Then did a complete 180 and defended them.

Mayor Chambers is dangerous and unremorseful and should resign from his position. Care2 is joining several other organizations, including three of the six members of Carbon Hill's city council in demanding that anti-gay Mayor Mark step down as mayor, and learn to love, not spew hate.
