Stop Stigma Against Gay & Lesbian (LGBT) Communities and Prevent HIV

Injustice, discrimination, and hate fuels HIV. We have cheap, easy ways to test for HIV and ever more effective drugs to treat the virus. We cannot use them if people living with or vulnerable to HIV are shunned or denied access to these services.

There are 81 countries in the world where anti-gay laws don't just violate human rights - they fuel the AIDS epidemic.

In Russia and Uganda, anti-gay policies have thwarted prevention efforts and HIV infection rates are worryingly on the increase in these countries. In Uganda, laws against homosexuality led to a recent police raid of an HIV clinic, pushing the LGBT community deeper underground.

Stigma is still HIV's deadliest symptom. We know we can only achieve an AIDS free future if everyone has the chance to protect themselves.

At the Elton John AIDS Foundation, we have deliberately expanded our work with programmes that offer HIV prevention, treatment and support in a non-judgmental environment to the LGBT community.

Help end the stigma. Sign our pledge to stand strong against anti-LGBT hatred and help fight for an AIDS free future.
