Demand a revision of the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962

  • af: Lynn Booysen
  • mottagare: The National Assembly of Namibia

This law dates back to 1962 and 52 years down the line, it might as well not be there. The hands of the people charged with protecting the animals, are well and truly tied.

In one week alone, there were two cases, (that came to the attention of the SPCA), of dogs starved almost to death, by their owners. One had to be put down, the other has a lot of recovering to do, but he's getting there.

Act 71 is supposed to protect animals, and yet nothing can be done to the person inflicting pain and suffering on an animal.
