Florida Wants to Ban Children From Discussing Menstruation in School

For the past year, compassionate, reasonable people around the country have watched in horror as Florida lawmakers pass some of the most fascistic policies in the United States. As if being challenged to up the ante, their newest bill reads like something out of a dystopian novel.

House Bill 1069, which passed in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives last month, would ban any form of health education until sixth grade and prohibit students from asking questions about menstruation and their periods.

Sign now to tell the Florida Legislature to reject this bill and govern with compassion and reason!

Preventing young kids from talking about menstruation could literally create a public health crisis. It is crucial that children learn about and understand the changes their bodies are going through, and sex/reproductive education is a vital part of that. These programs benefit all of us – from reducing rates of teen pregnancy to helping get children access to the care they need to manage menstrual health.

Clearly, Republicans are continuing to escalate the political situation towards authoritarianism in the southern state. We can't let them.
