Boycott Whole Foods -- Demand Mental Health Coverage

Whole Foods revenue in 2010 was over $9 billion. Their motto is "Whole Foods, Whole People, Whole Planet" and they pride themselves on promoting team member health and happiness through fair wages and "great" benefits. But despite being recognized by FORTUNE magazine as one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For" in America — every year since the list began in 1998 - their health insurance plan EXPLICITY DENIES any mental health coverage.

While the Affordable Care Act will force the company to provide some benefits, it is not clear if (nor likely that) employees will get the mental health coverage they need.

It is shameful that a "progressive", successful company that prides itself on treating its employees so well does not provide the resources these employees need to stay truly healthy.

Until the company changes its policy, I will not shop at Whole Foods.
