Be the change! Let’s change OK County Jail

For one our jail one is nasty. There is black mold everywhere and holes etc. I know it's not meant to be a hotel but something needs to change. Also inmates are given antidepressants sometimes and when they are they usually are on them for the whole time. When they get out they stop the medicine and send them out on the real world. Most don't have insurance can't afford to go to the doctor. So what happens? Most antidepressants if you take them long enough you can't just get off of them you have to be tapered off. If this happens it can make you more depressed even suicidal. This happened to someone I love. He was locked up for 4 months. They had him on sleeping medication and antidepressants for his PTSD and his depression. He told me how much it made a change he was happy again. He also was clean! Then he got out and they just stopped him cold turkey. Two days went by and I noticed he started getting so depressed. He told me how he doesn't want to use he just didn't want to feel that way. The jail provided nothing to help guide to where he could go to get back on these medications. He had no insurance, no job nothing. To me that's not ok he ended up dying he had an overdose. He couldn't handle the life outside. He had never been to jail prior to this so this really messed him up. I want to better our jail system. It needs good guards, new building and a better system. I want to help someone. Let's be the change
