Close Welshpool Indoor Market

Please Welshpool Town Council do not waste any more tax payers money trying to save Welshpool Market.

Although Welshpool has had a market in some form since the thirteenth century, for over 700 years, the only viable market trading is the Smithfield Market at Buttington Cross. All other goods and services in town are provided by local businesses established on permanent sites or are purchased in more modern methods. The market hall has become something of a local embarrassment and there are no serious traders left from the many that can be remembered by countless locals.

We urge the Town Council to finally call a day on the indoor market and remove the remaining 'Wendy houses' so that the space may be left vacant or used for other purposes.

We further urge the Town Council not to expend public money on the relocation of the remaining business to the Vicarage/Spar car park.
