Ban Declawing Cats in Illinois

Imagine someone cutting off the first knuckle of all your fingers. It would hurt, right? That's what every cat who gets declawed has to go through. Not only do they experience the horrid pain of the surgery, but there are also a lot of short and long term effects. A cat who is declawed must re-learn how to walk properly and no longer has their claws for natural defense. Instead of caring about their cats, people choose to be selfish and go through with the surgery, only to protect their furniture and nice things. Many countries outside of the U.S. have already banned declawing, such as England, Italy, Germany, and Austria. If we ban declawing in Illinois, it is one step closer to banning this horrific procedure from our country as a whole.
