Appeal for Stricter Requirements for Car Seat Safety in Utah

Utah's car restraint laws are behind the times. The minimum requirements for children to be turned forward facing is per car seat manufacturer, which can be as low as 20 pounds. Changing the minimum age to 2 years old keeps children 5 times safer in a head on collision. The American Academy of Pediatrics also reccomends this standard.  We appeal to lawmakers to have our voices heard and to have a new minimum law of 2 years of age or 30 pounds. We need to show that our voices are being heard and that we want lawmakers to crack down on the current laws to help keep our children safe.
