The stories of avoidable deaths and cruelty are seemingly endless.

In 2019, over 100 rats were crushed to death in a trash compactor.

In 2020, a primate died after staff failed to notice the animal was trapped behind a restraint device.

In 2021, 740 fish suffocated to death after water drained from a tank because staff didn't close the valve.

The list goes on.

To make matters worse, nearly a quarter of the non-compliance cases were simply because animals were not given food or water. That means on top of the needless accidental deaths during experiments, animals were also starving to death.

It appears that much of this abuse is because regulators failed to crack down on labs when discovering non-compliance cases. This is where the government comes in: Sign the petition to demand the Home Office properly enforce animal protection and animal testing laws!
