Help Keep the Blue Caboose in Sykesville, MD for Restoration!

Sykesville is a railroad town with a lot of history. Part of that history can be found in the old blue caboose just down the tracks from Baldwin's Station. For more than 25 years the caboose has sat as a monument to the early developmental days of our town's economy. Now as main street is bustling with local residents visiting the shops, restaurants, and boutiques, the old blue caboose serves its purpose as a favorite stop of visitors and train enthusiasts, a backdrop for local photographers, and an iconic reminder of the history of our town. It is not only an important part of our history, it's an important part of our community, and we are at risk of losing it.

Help us keep the old blue caboose in Sykesville! There is another town that has seen its value and is looking to take it. We want to keep it here and restore it ourselves as a community project. We have the resources and the volunteers. We just need your help in convincing the Town of Sykesville not to give a part of our history away to another town in another county. Please sign our petition and help us keep this important landmark in our community. We plan to keep a community blog of the restoration so you can watch our progress and, when it's complete, continue to enjoy Sykesville's Blue Caboose! THANK YOU!
