Unpaid Federal Workers Are Struggling But Big Banks Refuse To Help

Care2 update: Trump's government shutdown is now officially the longest government shutdown in US history — and government workers are paying the price.

About 800,000 federal employees are furloughed or working without pay. Without a paycheck, many families are suffering — struggling to feed their families and unable to pay rent or mortgages. Banks, like Bank of America, are refusing to accommodate unpaid federal workers with assistance  instead only offering help on a "case-by-case" basis. This is not enough.

Workers should not be pawns for political greed! Please sign Simone's petition calling on Bank of America and other major banks to support working families by allowing federal workers like them to defer loan and mortgage payments until the shutdown is over.

I am one of thousands affected by the 2019 government shutdown. I called Bank of America, for which I have been a long standing customer for 26 years, to request my loan payments deferred until the government has reopened.

I was told that Bank of America will not allow the deferral, and the loan will follow default procedures.

Sign this petition to ask Bank of America to defer all government employee's loans until the shutdown is over.
