Force Motorcycle Helmet Manufacturers to publish the Noise Levels of every Helmet Manufactured

A motorcycle helmet, is a piece of safety equipment that serves 2 functions. To protect your head in the event of an accident and to protect your hearing whilst riding.

The problem is that very few helmet manufacturers publish how noisy their helmets are. It is about time that governments force helmet manufacturers to publish the noise levels of their helmets, so that people purchasing a helmet can make an informed decision as to which helmet is more suited to protecting their hearing.

At the moment the best indicator is from reviews which are subjective at best. But the problem with reviews is that the tests are carried out on a motorcycle and different motorcycles have different aerodynamics, so whilst a helmet may be quiet on a touring bike it may be hearing damaging on a naked bike. So lets force manufacturers to produce a standard noise level. The more helmet manufacturers have to publish these figures the more they will want to reduce them, to make them more attractive to buyers.
