Demand an end to photoshopping in magazines.

Teenage girls look at models as role models, heavily influencing how they view their bodies. As girls we all look at models and celebrities on the front of magazines and compare ourselves to them giving us expectations of what our bodies should look like. Most have tiny waist lines, no flaws, long legs, long necks and look almost abnormal; but this is exactly what society views as ‘beautiful’. As these models tiny waist lines and long necks are not possible; these are all achieved through photoshop. On photoshop, we have the ability to completely change someones body giving them the ideal ‘perfect’ body. They use the liquify tool to change the shape of the models body, they use the healing brush tool to cover up blemishes leaving the model with clear, smooth skin. Girls look at these photoshopped models, questioning why they do not have a small waistline, no blemishes, long legs and neck. This can then cause low body esteem, eating disorders, depression and embarrassment. This is why it is so important that girls can look up to women with bodies in all different shapes and sizes, instead of women that have been photoshopped to reach society's standard of beauty.
