Justice for Michael: Demand tougher penalties for repeat reckless drivers

  • mottagare: Patrick Swanson, District Attorney, Chautauqua County New York
I am demending tougher laws on repeat offenders that carelessly and recklessly blow through stop signs.

The police have failed to act and now a hazardous driver has taken a life. My husband, Navy veteran, Michael P Shoemaker was killed on July 3, 2017 by a woman named Tammy Mays because she failed to stop for a stop sign. He was a vulnerable road user, riding legally through an intersection on his motorcycle.

She has blown through this stop sign before, as she lives down the street from it, and she has been ticketed for it. The DA knows this woman is a REPEAT OFFENDER AND IS FAILING TO PROSECUTE HER.

I want justice for my husband but I also want the law changed so no other family has to suffer and fight so hard to get justice!
