Put Forty Acres back on the Bus!

Some years ago, the residents of Forty Acres were thrilled when our request was answered to have our neighborhood name of Forty Acres added to the scrolling marquee of DART's No.10 bus.

A few months ago, DART removed 'Forty Acres' from the scrolling marquee. Residents want to see it restored.

The Forty Acres neighborhood was once home to the "middle depot" or mid-point of travel for the transportation route that originated in downtown Wilmington out to Rising Sun Lane. That "middle depot" became associated with the car barns, which were the garages that once housed the city buses.

Even after the car barns were torn down and the site redeveloped, the No.10 bus route has remained unchanged and still travels from points of origin within downtown Wilmington, it's middle stop in Forty Acres, and ending designations at Rising Sun/Kennett Pike.

DART's previous action of including Forty Acres to its scrolling marquee was historically and geographically correct as the center point of the No. 10 bus route. Furthermore, it provided a much appreciated public service of accurate identity to a neighborhood steeped in the roots of DART's history.

We are requesting that our neighborhood name of Forty Acres be restored to the scrolling Marquee of the No.10 Bus.

Please, put Forty Acres back on the Bus!
