Bosnia and Herzegovina, Support Survivors of Wartime Sexual Violence

  • af: Concerned Citizens of the World
  • mottagare: Bosnia and Herzegovina three members of the presidency Bakir Izetbegovic, Zeljko Komsic and Nebojsa Radmanovic

During the war of 1992- 1995, tens of thousands of women were sexually assaulted and abused in Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to Amnesty International, in 2010 the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina promised to support, protect and give justice and assistance to those who had experienced sexual violence. But they have failed to do anything to help these victims even though these women still struggle with the physical, mental and emotional trauma that happened two decades ago.

Tell the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina that they must fulfill their promise of support and reparation as these abused women are left to fend for themselves. Tell the government that they must bring those who committed these atrocious crimes to justice.

We the undersigned sincerely ask the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina to keep and fulfill their promise to support and seek out justice for the victims who were sexually abused during the war of 1992- 1995. These tens of thousands of women need the support of their government as they still struggle with the physical, mental and emotional trauma of those events. These women also greatly deserve justice and the government must make sure that those who committed such heinous crimes are punished accordingly.

Please show your citizens and the world that you will support these women and will make sure that their abuses are punished.

Thank you.
