Stop teaching staff redundancy at Whitworth Park!

The Senior Leadership Team of Whitworth Park School have stated that they will be making some teaching staff redundant. Departments such as Music and RE who as a result of the redundancy will be left with just one teacher. Schools should be promoting to students to consider a wider variety of options for GCSEs but instead, Whitworth Park School leadership team are taking them opportunities away!

An unconfirmed roomer stating that Design and Technology will also be facing staff redundancy meaning that students in future years will not have the option of taking lessons such as food technology.

Furthermore in the case of the music department, one teacher cannot look after the whole department. The school currently has one woodwind musician and one brass musician. The redundancy threat facing the music department will mean that there will be no woodwind musician in the school. In cases such as preparing for GCSE examinations and ABRSM music examinations, woodwind players will not receive the required attention for staff in order to pass higher graded examinations.

The school also employs a student councillor who is there when a student requires mental guidance/assistance in dealing with difficult situations including home life. Whitworth Park's councillor has already seen a cut in the working week as they have been reduced to working 3 days per week. Threats are in place over the redundancy of the student councillor. If this was to be perused, students would not receive the mental support in which they require.
