BAN AI ‘ARTWORK’ WITHIN ARVADA WEST HIGH SCHOOL!

AWEST (Arvada West) is an amazing high school within the Arvada district. The issue is; AI posters and ‘artwork’ is being promoted throughout the school.

Whether it’s teachers being fed into AI to be turned into astronauts, or it’s AI generated characters on slideshows, theres variations of AI ‘art’ promoted around the school makes us students personally feel that it’s near dehumanizing. (In retrospect: it is.)

Though positively, the school wonderfully promotes “Artist of The Month”, but negatively, it feels like a mockery to the students who spend years to develop their styles, skills and hard work.

To add; how do we, as AWEST, claim to be a proud community when we rely on a system ruining our Earth? What prideful school turns their heads away from promoting community, students, and pride to endorse in what is expected to replace us? The claim is we are all a team, that we encourage student independence and we strive to help reach for all students dreams. But we can’t show nor do that when we endorse AI. We can change that.

Us Awest students strongly believe that the AI ‘artwork’ around the school should be replaced by genuine student art. School event coming up and we need a picture of our mascot? Request a student, or class, to draw the poster. Need a poster promoting teens reading books? ‘Artist of The Month’ would possibly love to design that.

Give us students the independence, creativity, and true feeling of a community at AWEST by banning AI ‘artwork’ within the school.
