According to Monday's ABC 40 News, on March 3, a dog in Easthampton, Mass.,
is alive today thanks to the fast action of a good Samaritan who rescued the dog from a burning kennel.
On Monday, an oil delivery technician came upon the fire while visiting a residence on Melinda Lane;
the fire threatened the life of a dog who was contained in an outdoor kennel.
According to the Daily Hampshire Gazette, the heroic man who successfully plucked the dog,
a senior beagle named "Pammy," from the burning structure has been identified as Kevin Labrie.
Labrie sustained a bite wound from the frightened dog, who is now under a mandatory 10-day quarantine at her owner's home.
Responding firefighters with the Easthampton Fire Department were able to extinguish the blaze.
Pammy's owner, George Wright, had constructed the outdoor kennel for his four beagles - today,
only Pammy is alive and still using the shelter. A light bulb inside of the kennel is blamed for the fire.
Wright stated that Pammy likes to sleep outside, but indicated that following the blaze,
she will have to get used to coming in the house.
